Viserion (298 AL - 304 AL)
BEYOND THE WALL - Viserion, 6, of Dragonstone passed away on Tuesday after being struck with an ice spear thrown by the Night King.
The dragon was born on a funeral pyre in the wastelands beyond Lhazar sometime in 298L, the son of Daenerys Targaryen and brother to Drogon and Rhaegal.
Distinguishable by his cream and gold coloured scales and red-orange wings, Viserion was the smallest of the three brothers growing up but managed to breathe fire by the age of 1, burning Pyat Pree alive in the House of the Undying after being kidnapped.
This hardship endured early on in life would sadly continue, Viserion and Rhaegal spending nearly two years in the catacombs of Meereen, their only human meal being a couple of noble lords who betrayed their mother.
The brothers were set free in 303 AL by Tyrion Lannister (with whom there is a slim chance they share blood), returning to Daenerys and Drogon's side to decisively crush the Second Siege of Meereen and pre-empt the return of slavery to the city.
Viserion travelled with his family to Westeros for the first time the following year, appearing visibly happy to be circling the ancestral Targaryen seat of Dragonstone.
The honour of roasting alive Lannister forces and lords Randyll and Dickon Tarly following the Loot Train Battle outside Highgarden fell to Drogon - perhaps his mother's favourite child - but Viserion would soon see his first action in battle, helping rescue Jon Snow and his splinter cell from the White Walkers somewhere north of the Wall, burning hundreds of wights in the process.
Vision's secret cousin, Jon would end up unwittingly playing a role in the dragon's death, being too busy slaying wights to board Drogon and depart, allowing the Night King time to hurl an icy javelin at Viserion, striking him fatally in the neck.
Viserion will be remembered as a very effective and loyal dragon, described by George R.R. Martin in his writings as the most merciful of the three brothers.
Funeral services will not be held as the body could not be recovered from the ice and, unbeknownst to the family, has been resurrected into a wight dragon.
