From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Emilia Clarke is flaxen-haired once more, donning her Daenerys Targaryen costume to film scenes for Game of Thrones season 6.

“Good hair days are here again,” Clarke wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of her being worked on by hair and make-up stylists.

It promises to be an interesting season for Dany, as her dragons and Unsullied army continue their mission to take Westeros.

In other season 6 news, the Facebook page for Modexpor International has put out a casting call for a fairy-haired baby aged between nine and 12 months.

The most likely explanation for this, as Watchers on the Wall notes, is that it is Gilly’s baby, and confirmed filming location in Canet de Mar - the Castell de Santa Florentina - may well be serving as the Tarly stronghold of Horn Hill.

This lends wait to previous casting spoilers that suggest we’ll be meeting Sam Tarly’s parents this season.

Earlier in the week, the actor for a much loved character was spotted in GoT’s home of Belfast, suggesting he may not be dead after all.

Game of Thrones season 6 is expected to arrive in April 2016.
