If you thought that Game of Thrones couldn’t get any more shocking, think again.

Actress Sophie Turner has revealed that season five of the fantasy drama will be even more jaw-dropping than the infamous Red Wedding, with hard-hitting moments that will leave fans reeling.

The 18-year-old star, who plays the forlorn Sansa Stark in the HBO series, has already hinted that Sansa will have a “traumatic” experience in season five but says that there will be plenty of other Earth-shattering moments this year.

“There’s some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing. There’s like a lot going on this season," Turner said.

"There’s also, you know, a lot of blood, a lot of death,” she told the Huffington Post.

At the end of season four we saw Sansa don a gothic-looking disguise and leave the Eyrie with Little Finger, played by Queer as Folk and The Wire star Aidan Gillen.

A new trailer for season five released earlier this month shows an emotional moment between Sansa and Little Finger, where he tells her, “There’s no justice in this world unless we make it. Avenge them.”

The relationship between the pair has always been an ambiguous one given Little Finger’s feelings for Sansa’s mother Catelyn. But it became even more complicated in season four when he unexpectedly kissed her.

Turner explained that this “creepy” relationship will be explored further this year, “To outsiders, it's very messed up and strange, but to her it's the only way she can get what she wants, and finally she has that power, so she's gonna use it.”

Warning: contains spoilers

Although there have been plenty of shocking moments in Game of Thrones, the Red Wedding in season three is considered to be the biggest. The scene featured the brutal slaughter of several major characters at a wedding feast, including a horrific moment where a heavily pregnant woman was murdered.

Season five of Game of Thrones will be hitting our screens on 12 April.
