From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

If you want your house painted orange, Peter Andre is your man.

The former pop star and reality TV host is to present the new series of 60 Minute Makeover, ITV has confirmed.

The daytime presenting role is the latest TV gig for Andre, following Peter Andre’s Bad Boyfriend Club, Peter Andre: My Life, Here 2 Help, Odd One In, The 5 O’Clock Show, Peter Andre: The Next Chapter and Katie & Peter: The Next Chapter Stateside.

Andre said he is “delighted” to be the new presenter of 60 Minute Makeover, where he will lead a team of designers and workmen as they travel around the UK transforming homes in one hour.

“I love these sort of shows and although this is a completely different experience for me, it is a much-loved show and I am hoping to bring a new twist to it,” he said.

Amanda Stavri, executive producer of Shiver, the company making the series, said: “Peter brings his inimitable warmth and enthusiasm to the show and we’re thrilled to have him on board.”

The “Mysterious Girl,” “Flava” and “I Feel You” singer shot to fame seven years after taking a break from the music industry, when he married model Katie Price after meeting on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. The two had a rocky relationship which attracted much media attention until they split in 2009.
