Co-chairman and CEO Gary Newman commented that there are “no plans right now” to bring back the latter which recently reunited original stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell for a fifth season after finishing in 2009.
That isn't to say he wasn't impressed with the season which was overseen by creator Paul Scheuring: “We loved this season,” he stated, with fellow CEO Dana Walden adding that action drama's return would be “seriously considered” if a fresh idea warranted the effort.
24: Legacy's return is reliant on the availability of lead actor Corey Hawkins who took over from Kiefer Sutherland as the show's protagonist. Hawkins, who also starred in The Walking Dead and NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton is currently performing in the Broadway play Six Degrees Of Separation.
Walden stated: “We were so happy with the creative on that show. We think Corey Hawkins did a great job - replacing Jack Bauer was no easy feat.”
The CEO's suggested they would soon sit down with executive producer Howard Gordon to discuss where the series could go next.
