The Great Gatsby author F. Scott Fitzgerald’s final and unfinished novel, The Last Tycoon, has been given the full season order at Amazon Prime, according to Deadline.

The streaming service was clearly pleased with the pilot, which debuted in June, and starred Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammar, Rosemarie DeWitt and Lily Collins.

Fitzgerald’s novel, published posthumously in 1941, was previously adapted for the big screen in 1976, in a picture starring Robert De Niro and featuring Jack Nicholson.

Believed to a roman à clef about real life film producer Irving Thalberg, The Last Tycoon centred on Monroe Stahr, his rise to power in Hollywood and rivalry with Pat Brady, who is thought to have been based on studio boss Louis B. Mayer.

HBO originally planned to adapt the book for television in 2013, before ditching this idea and passing it on to Amazon Studios. Billy Ray directed the pilot and is currently writing the film screenplay for The Devil in the White City, which Martin Scorsese will direct.
