From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The streaming service, which launched in the UK in March, will be dropping a selection of new TV series and films over the next month, including two of their most exciting original projects to date.
On 3 July, fans will finally be able to watch the highly anticipated Frozen 2 starring Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell.
However, it is the film version of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton that is sure to have people running to Disney+, as the award-winning hip hop musical starring the original cast is broadcast for the first time.
The hype around these films has been so high that Disney suspended their seven-day free trial for the service, meaning that fans wanting to see either film will have to subscribe to Disney+.
At the other end of the month, Beyoncé will be exclusively launching her new film Black is King, which is influenced by her work on the 2019 remake of The Lion King, on 31 July.
Plus, there will be new episodes of Pixar in Real Life, It’s a Dog’s Life with Bill Farmer, Marvel Hero Project and Disney Family Sundays landing on the platform every Friday.
