Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Noel Edmonds-fronted gameshow Deal or No Deal is to end after 11 years on UK television screens.

The cult show, which has amassed almost 3,000 episodes, is to bow out after a final run that'll air this autumn.

Never one to do things conventionally, the series - which famously features a diverse range of contestants - will then rebrand itself as Deal or No Deal on Tour as Edmonds takes the show to audiences assembled at iconic landmarks across the UK.

Edmonds will remain with the channel, announcing plans for a new daytime series as well as two new pilots.

One pilot will see contestants guess the cheapest of three items in an 'eccentric' general story in order to win a prize fund while another will see Edmonds oversee live bidding of an eclectic range of items.

Deal or No Deal was a hit for Channel 4 since it began airing 2004 amassing impressive audiences of over three million. Over the course of its 11 years on television, more than £40 million has been given away with only eight people "spanking the banker" to walk away with the £250,000 jackpot.

Edmonds himself played the games as part of the series' ten-year anniversary in September 2015; he won £26,000 for Children's Hospice South West.
