From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Little Britain star has announced that he and supermodel wife Lara Stone are to become parents.
Holden, who with Walliams has been rehearsing for this year's Royal Variety Performance, said she had seen scans of the "good-looking" - and tall - baby.
She said: "He's delighted. I think he's nervous. We saw some really cute scan pictures the other day.
"It's a gorgeous, good-looking baby. I'm sure it's going to be massively long and tall. So good luck with that, Lara."
Holden added: "He'll be an excellent dad. He's ridiculously in love with Bert, his dog, so he probably needs a human to put some love into as well."
Holden is introducing some of the acts at the Royal Variety Show, hosted by Walliams, which is being filmed at the Royal Albert Hall for broadcast on ITV1 next month.
She said she was not worried about this year's X Factor ratings and the repercussions for another Simon Cowell show, Britain's Got Talent, because "we're a totally different show".
Walliams, who married Dutch model Stone two years ago at Claridge's hotel, recently announced on Twitter: "Some wonderful news. My beautiful wife Lara is pregnant. We are having a baby! It is due next year and we both couldn't be happier. Dx".
