Schwimmer played hopeless romantic Ross in the much-loved sitcom, while Perry played the wise-cracking Chandler.
On Wednesday (15 November), he shared an image of them together in character during a rare flashback episode, at the same time as his co-star Jennifer Aniston also shared a touching tribute.
In the caption, Schwimmer paid tribute to his friend and colleague’s comedic skills, as well as his warmth.
“Matty, thank you for ten incredible years of laughter and creativity,” Schwimmer began.“I will never forget your impeccable comic timing and delivery. You could take a straight line of dialogue and bend it to your will, resulting in something so entirely original and unexpectedly funny it still astonishes.”
He continued: “And you had heart. Which you were generous with, and shared with us, so we could create a family out of six strangers.
“This photo is from one of my favorite moments with you. Now it makes me smile and grieve at the same time.“I imagine you up there, somewhere, in the same white suit, hands in your pockets, looking around— ‘Could there BE any more clouds?’”
Soon after Perry was discovered in his hot tub in his California home, the Friends cast released a joint statement expressing their grief.
On Tuesday, Matt LeBlanc and Courtney Cox shared their personal tributes to Perry on Instagram.
LeBlanc shared a series of stills from the show, displaying him and Perry together. As the lovable womaniser Joey, LeBlanc shared many scenes with Perry’s Chandler.
Cox, who played Monica, shared an image from a scene from the 1998 episode titled “The One with Ross’s Wedding”, in which Monica and Chandler sleep together for the first time.
At the time of writing, Lisa Kudrow, who completed the main cast as quirky masseuse Phoebe, had not yet publicly addressed Perry’s passing.
All five of the remaining Friends lead stars attended Perry’s funeral on 3 November. Perry was laid to rest during a small ceremony of about 20 people, according to TMZ.
Perry’s long-time friend Hank Azaria, who guest starred in the show as David, a love interest of Phoebe, was also in attendance. Describing the atmosphere as “sad”, Azaria said that guests would “sort of [be] alternately laughing and crying remembering him”.
“We’ve all had people we’ve lost,” he added. “The world really lost him. In a way, it’s nice to have the world sort of sharing with you.”
