The German-language series, hailed by many as "terrifying," will hit the streaming service on 1 December and looks like it could emulate the success achieved by last year's sleeper hit Stranger Things which returns for a second season on 30 October.
Going by the new teaser, however, it seems as if this German-language series will be targeted squarely at adults: like the aforementioned series, it tells the story of a child - well, children - gone missing, an event which “...sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers [that] unearth a small town’s sins and secrets”.
While it initially seems as if the series will be a straightforward crime tale, the trailer suggests things may be more mind-bending than first thought.
“The question isn't who but when?” the supernatural series' teaser trailer asks.
Dark, created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, was shot in suburban Berlin earlier this year. The duo encouraged the Stranger Things comparisons ahead of their series' Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) premiere last month, saying: “It’s really exciting because if all those people who watched [that show] will at least think about watching Dark, I think that’s a great opportunity for us. So keep comparing it.”
