From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

When ITV announced that Dani Dyer, the daughter of Danny Dyer, would entering the Love Island villa, people’s heads turned.

How would the descendent of William the Conqueror and Edward III react? Was the Eastenders actor aware of what happened on Love Island? (Spoiler: heartbreak and occasional sex.)

“I didn’t want her to do it. I’d never seen it before,” Danny said while appearing on Good Evening Britain, a special edition of Good Morning Britain. ”You fear it as a father.”

However, the father of three added that there’s a £50,000 prize and that “Dani’s gonna win it.”

He continued: “As it’s gone on, I think what she’s done is she’s proved with this reality TV thing that actually you can be a decent girl, with self-respect, dignity, not be rolling under the bedsheets, still have respect off the man and be loved and adored by young people.”

Dyer concluded that current boyfriend Jack Fincham ”seems like a good kid”.

The actor also commented on Brexit while appearing on the show alongside Jeremy Corbyn, calling David Cameron – the Prime Minister who called for a European referendum – a ‘t**t’. You can watch the incident here.
