From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

CW‘s Arrow will end after season eight.

The comic book show’s producers, Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz, released a statement on Wednesday, 6 March to announce the news.

“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind,” they told Entertainment Weekly.

“We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”

Stephen Amell, who plays the show’s titular hero, wrote on Twitter: “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life…but you can’t be a vigilante forever.”

Arrow will return for a final run of 10 episodes this Fall. There’s so much to say... for now I just want to say thank you.”

The show spawned several more series which all take place in the same universe, known as the Arrowverse, with Supergirl having aired four seasons so far and Batwoman set to debut at a later date.
