From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.“Why didn’t you make a copy and keep it in a fireproof box and keep it at least a hundred yards from the original?” This is just one of the many quotes that sum up Monica Geller’s neuroses in Friends.
In the beloved sitcom, Monica is the one who has 11 different categories of guest towel, a miniature vacuum with which to vacuum her own vacuum cleaner, and who would pass out if she saw someone put a glass on a table without a coaster.
Courteney Cox, who played the character between 1994 and 2004, has now showed why she is, in many ways, just like the woman she played.
“Tell me you’re a Monica without telling me you’re a Monica,” Cox can be seen saying in her latest Instagram video post, calling on Friends fans to show how they can relate to the queen of clean.
“I’ll go first,” she adds, with the Outkast song “So Fresh, So Clean” playing in the background, before cutting to a reveal of the contents of one of her kitchen drawers. In the drawer lies her cheese slicer, cake cutter, melon baller, corkscrew and more, all in matching silver and all with their own cut-out slots in a tray.
In another drawer, she shows where her spices live: in uniform containers and individually labelled. And then in the larder, she’s got pasta, crackers, and tea bags all in their own jars, with branded condiments on separate shelves.
“I know,” Cox says with a shrug.
Cox will soon appear in the Friends reunion special with her co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc.
