Messages of support are pouring in for Chris Cuomo after the CNN anchor revealed he has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Cuomo made the announcement on Tuesday, writing on social media that he has experienced chills, shortness of breath and a fever. He’s now in quarantine in his basement, from where he will continue to host his show.

His brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, was among those wishing him well after the news broke.

“This virus is the great equalizer. Stay strong little brother. You are a sweet, beautiful guy and my best friend. If anyone is #NewYorkTough it’s you,” the governor wrote.

The elder Cuomo has appeared on his younger brother’s show to discuss the coronavirus pandemic. Their conversations have become topics of discussion on social media – including a segment in which both brothers sparred over which one of them is their mother’s favourite.

In addition to the governor, Cuomo’s CNN colleague Jake Tapper shared his own message of support, writing: “God bless you, brother. Sending love and prayers from DC.”

Political commentator Ana Navarro-Cárdenas tweeted: “Oh, dear God. Christopher is a man of faith. He believes in the power of prayer. Please, let us pray for him and everybody else affected. Please get well, dear, @ChrisCuomo.”

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes responded to Cuomo’s announcement, writing: ”Oh man. Wishing you the best and feel better!”

Former 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang tweeted: ”Stay strong Chris! You will continue to inspire so many of us firsthand from your basement.”

Former world number one tennis player Chris Evert wished Cuomo a speedy recovery, adding: “Enjoy his @CNN coverage every night. A big thanks to journalists and media who are also on the front line reporting news for all of us...”
