From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Gogglebox is about to be celebified as Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Noel Gallagher curl up on the sofa for a charity special.

The supermodel duo and Oasis singer will tune into TV highlights from the past week, including Strictly Come Dancing, The X Factor and Downton Abbey, during an episode to raise funds for Stand Up to Cancer.

Gallagher is seen cringing while watching the singing competition, as he recalls his daughter’s annoyance at his decision to turn down Simon Cowell’s invitation to be an X Factor judge in 2011.

“She’s furious every week that it’s on,” he says.

“She tut tuts at the screen saying, ‘That could’ve been you slagging them off’. I’ll never be forgiven.”

Meanwhile Campbell is transfixed by the 1920s antics of Lady Mary and company.

A source told Channel 4 that Moss had jumped at the chance to appear on the show: “The sketch will help to raise money for charity and Kate is good friends with Noel and Naomi.

“When she knew she would have them by her side she did not hesitate to agree.”

Gogglebox: Celebrity Special for Stand Up to Cancer airs on Channel 4 on Friday.
