From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tomorrow night will see a new batch of ‘celebrities’ enter the Big Brother house, which this year has taken on a creepy fairytale theme.

Contestants will not be confirmed until the launch show, but host Rylan Clark has promised a “very, very strong line-up” with fewer reality TV stars than viewers have come to expect (we’ll have to see it to believe it).

Showbiz blogger Perez Hilton, “Got No Fans” viral phenomenon The Wealdstone Raider and actress Patsy Kensit are among the names whirling round the rumour mill, along with X Factor contestants Marcus Collins and Chloe-Jasmine.

Former Boyzone singer Ronan Keating has also been mentioned as a possible housemate, but he is starring in West End musical Once until March.

Here’s our list of the ten most likely Celebrity Big Brother contestants, based primarily on bookies’ odds (yes, they’re already taking bets on the winner).

Patsy Kensit

Viewers will recognise Patsy’s face from Emmerdale, Holby City and Casualty. She appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 and her former husbands including musicians Jim Kerr and Liam Gallagher.

She tweeted recently that “meditation is going to help a lot in the next month”, prompting speculation that she is set to enter the house.

Perez Hilton

No-one knows “celebrity” as well as Perez. The US blogger controversially posted leaked nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence last year, and regularly “outs” gay celebrities in his trademark sensationalist manner. All hell is sure to break loose should he join this year’s housemates.

Marcus Collins

This X Factor contestant came second to Little Mix in the 2011 series and has since worked with mentor Gary Barlow and starred on stage in Hairspray. He is in a relationship with Strictly Come Dancing professional Robin Windsor and has helped him push for same-sex couples on the show.

Katie Hopkins

Katie has a column in The Sun and has made multiple appearances on panel shows such as Loose Woman and 8 out of 10 Cats. She made her name as a candidate on series three of The Apprentice before going on to become a hugely controversial media commentator. Should she take part in Celebrity Big Brother, she’ll likely have been tempted by an enormous fee.

Nadia Sawalha

Nadia is known for playing Annie Palmer in EastEnders in the late Nineties. She is a regular panellist on Loose Women and has a Celebrity MasterChef title under her belt. Could CBB be her next TV victory?

The Wealdstone Raider

Everyone’s favourite bloke Gordon Hill is one of the favourites to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house. A YouTube video in which he drunkenly heckles rival football fans rocketed him to viral fame and his charity single “Got No Fans” narrowly missed making Christmas number one. “You want some? He’ll give it ya!”

Jeremy Jackson

US actor Jeremy is best known for playing Hobie Buchannon alongside David Hasselhoff on Baywatch. His struggles with drug addiction are well-documented but since recovering in rehab, Jeremy has featured on various documentaries and reality TV shows.

Chloe-Jasmine Whichello

Chloe-Jasmine proved a hit with the X Factor judges when she showcased her “posh” soulful voice in this year’s series. Some viewers may recognise her from Naomi Campbell’s modelling contest The Face on Sky Living. Chloe-Jasmine is sure to brush housemates up the wrong way with her uptown mannerisms and plummy accents.

Ken Morley

Coronation Street star Ken is known for his long-standing role as Reg Holdsworth from 1989 to 1995. The 71-year-old comedian was a regular on BBC sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo! And took part in Celebrity Fit Club in 2005.

Cami Li

Puerto Rican glamour model Cami is known for her tattoos and relationship with The Only Way Is Essex star Kirk Norcross. She has been tipped to join Celebrity Big Brother by numerous tabloid newspapers, not least because she’ll likely “do a Jasmine Waltz” and wear next to nothing in the house.

Celebrity Big Brother starts at 9pm on Channel 5 tomorrow
