From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

This year’s Celebrity Big Brother contestants have no idea what awaits them when they enter the infamous house later tonight.

Rylan Clark and Emma Willis are returning to host the reality TV series, with confirmed housemates including actress Patsy Kensit, showbiz blogger Perez Hilton and controversial media commentator Katie Hopkins.

The theme this year is ‘twisted fairytale’, so expect plenty of creepy décor including artwork of ravens, owls and wild boars.

Naturally, there will be mirrors on almost every wall to satisfy the celebrities’ egos, and an elaborate Alice in Wonderland-style dinner table will be the site of many a banquet.

A decadent champagne bowl sits elevated on an island in the kitchen beneath a glitzy chandelier and a dog statue complete with crown and ruff lives on a table in the main room.

Plush velvet sofas and a glamourous sunken bath also feature, while the garden includes a hot tub for the inevitable late night antics.

Past Celebrity Big Brother house themes have included ‘winter’, ‘posh’, ‘hell’, ‘eco’, ‘Russian opulence’ and ‘glamourous VIP’.

Tune in to see the new Celebrity Big Brother housemates enter the house at 9pm on Channel 5.
