Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Voting for the winner of this year's series has opened and the public will choose from the seven after model Cami Li became the fifth housemate to be evicted.
She learned she was facing eviction alongside Katie Price, Keith Chegwin and Perez Hilton earlier in the show, but the contestants were not expecting anyone to leave.
They were shocked when host Emma Willis entered the house to announce the eviction.
After learning she had polled the lowest number of votes from viewers, Li - real name Camilia Figueras - said: “It's bitter sweet in the sense that I can get out and call my mum. I would have loved to make the final because the first ten days were hell. It's so hard to be in that house.”
She launched a blistering attack on Hilton, who has clashed with fellow housemates.
She said: “I did say in an interview that I'm going to really love him or really hate him. Obviously I f****** hated him.”
Each of the four stars who were nominated were invited to explain to viewers why they should remain in the house earlier.
Li said: “I've been here since the beginning, I've been true to myself.”
Price apologised for being “boring”, but added: “If you keep me in I will be the same boring. It would be nice to stay in because for once in my life I would have achieved something.”
Chegwin said he had enjoyed his time on the show and had been “honest - probably too honest”.
Finally celebrity blogger Perez Hilton launched into a foul-mouthed rant, saying viewers would “do whatever the f***” they want, adding: “I would be thrilled to go home. Let the people who really want to stay, stay.”
The final eviction will be announced tomorrow and viewers are now voting for the winner of the series, who will be crowned on Friday.
