From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The first pictures of next year's Celebrity Big Brother house have been released and, well, the contestants are in for a gloriously kitsch experience.

Plush red velvet sofas, golden armchairs, ornate mirrors, grand paintings, glitter ball chandeliers and their very own (fake) polar bear await the celebrities, who will enter the new house on Friday 3 January 2014.

Among those rumoured to be joining the house are The Only Way Is Essex star Sam Faiers, former N-Dubz singer Dappy and the ever-controversial Katie Hopkins. Other maybes include Katie 'Jordan' Price, presenter Justin Lee Collins, boxers David Haye and Ricky Hatton and even Lindsay Lohan (we think not...).

Blue singer Lee Ryan is a possible, as is football manager Sven Goran-Eriksson's ex-girlfriend Nancy Dell'Olio.

Evander Holyfield, the boxer who had his ear bitten off by Mike Tyson in 1997, has reportedly signed onto the show, but this has yet to be confirmed by representatives of the Channel 5. Tyson himself is now banned from the UK following a rape conviction in 1992.

One thing's for sure - whoever enters the 2014 house can expect to kick back in palatial surroundings.
