From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Who? Stephanie Pratt, reality TV star.
Where do I know that face from? Stephanie is best known for her role on reality TV series The Hills, which tracked the lives and loves of four girls in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
Since the series finished she has made several appearances on E4’s reality show Made in Chelsea, where she had a romance with Spencer Matthews.
Why Celebrity Big Brother? Stephanie is a dab hand at reality TV and, well, if the glove fits.
What can we expect in the house? Stephanie made her return in series 7 of Made in Chelsea and wasn’t too nice about her ex, so more Spencer-bashing could be in store…
Odds of winning? 12/1
Hosted by Emma Willis, series seven of the hit reality show airs on Channel 5, with viewers promised “countless twists, turns and tough tasks”.
The house has been given a make-over for the new run, but celebrities will not be expecting VIP treatment but, instead, plenty of drama and tension.
Last year’s show was won by Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, who beat 5ive singer Abz Lowe to the title.
