From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

As 14 new contestants prepare to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight, it’s time to get to know those expected a little better.

Who? Ricci Guarnaccio, reality TV star.

Where do I know that face from? Ricci is known for appearing on Newcastle-based reality TV show Geordie Shore, where he described himself as someone who has “got the looks, got the charm; it just works”.

Since leaving the show he has appeared on MTV reality show Ex on the Beach, which saw eight single guys and girls head to paradise where they were greeted by their exes.

Why Celebrity Big Brother? Fellow Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby won the programme last year, so Ricci may be hoping to achieve a second victory.

What can we expect in the house? Ricci describes himself as a ladies’ man so flirting and more flitting probably.

Odds of winning? 17/2

Hosted by Emma Willis, series seven of the hit reality show airs on Channel 5, with viewers promised “countless twists, turns and tough tasks”.

The house has been given a make-over for the new run, but celebrities will not be expecting VIP treatment but, instead, plenty of drama and tension.

Last year’s show was won by Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, who beat 5ive singer Abz Lowe to the title.
