From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Who? Lauren Goodger, reality TV star.
Where do I know that face from? Lauren rose to fame after appearing in Bafta Award-winning ITV reality show The Only Way is Essex between 2010 and 2012, before departing in series 6.
In January 2013 she took part in the eighth series of Dancing On Ice but finished in 11th place after being eliminated in the second week.
Last year she published an autobiography called Secrets of an Essex Girl.
Why Celebrity Big Brother? Lauren made her name on reality TV so she’s used to being herself on camera.
What can we expect in the house? Lauren has recently called for tougher laws to prohibit revenge porn after a video of her performing a sex act on her ex-boyfriend leaked online, so we could hear more about her views on the subject.
Odds of winning? 9/1
Hosted by Emma Willis, series seven of the hit reality show airs on Channel 5, with viewers promised “countless twists, turns and tough tasks”.
The house has been given a make-over for the new run, but celebrities will not be expecting VIP treatment but, instead, plenty of drama and tension.
Last year’s show was won by Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, who beat 5ive singer Abz Lowe to the title
