Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

As 14 new contestants prepare to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight, it’s time to get to know those expected a little better.

Who? David McIntosh, television personality.

Where do I know that face from? David served in the Royal Marines before landing the role of Gladiator Tornado on Sky 1’s TV show Gladiators.

Why Celebrity Big Brother? Last year David joined forces with NYC photographer Maya Guez to expand his “brand” by creating his own line of unique merchandise – a stint on the show is bound to help promote his online fitness programmes and 2014 calendar.

What can we expect in the house? David got engaged to Kelly Brook in March following a 12-week whirlwind romance so we could see him declaring his love for the model and actress.

Odds of winning? 4/1

Hosted by Emma Willis, series seven of the hit reality show airs on Channel 5, with viewers promised “countless twists, turns and tough tasks”.

The house has been given a make-over for the new run, but celebrities will not be expecting VIP treatment but, instead, plenty of drama and tension.

Last year’s show was won by Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, who beat 5ive singer Abz Lowe to the title
