Channel 4 comedy series Catastrophe is returning to screens later this month, it's been confirmed.

Actor-comedian Rob Delaney confirmed the news on Twitter following a London press conference alongside his co-lead, Sharon Horgan.

The series, following an American man and Irish woman whose lives are thrust together when she gets pregnant after a one-night stand, returns on 28 February. It'll serve as the final TV role for Carrie Fisher who plays the former's mother; she'll appear in the sixth and final episode.

Fisher completed filming days before she suffered a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles. The Star Wars actor died four days later on 27 December, a single day before her mother Debbie Reynolds passed away.

Speaking at the press conference, Horgan revealed that Fisher's role in season three is “bigger” and “chunkier” than in the previous two.

She also expressed uncertainty of how they scripts will address her death in the confirmed fourth season, saying: “It's a bit hard to think about it yet so I'm hoping a bit of time will pass and we will think of a fitting finish to that story.”

Fisher completed work as General Leia on Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi ahead of her passing, with Lucasfilm since confirming there are no plans to digitally add the actor into any other scenes.

Catastrophe returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday 28 February.
