From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have become the latest Carpool Karaoke guests on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and at least half of the band got into it.

Riding shotgun, frontman Anthony Kiedis belted out hits ‘Californication’, ‘Under the Bridge’, ‘By the Way’ and ’The Zephyr Song’, with Corden joining in with a few harmonies.

Bassist Flea also got pretty animated in the backseat, while guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and Chad Smith looked a little awkward and just head-nodded slightly.

Kiedis and Corden pulled over for a play fight on someone’s lawn at one point, and later peeled off their shirts for one of the tracks.

There was a mini-interview in between songs, with Corden asking the band what the most rock n’ roll thing they’d seen in their lengthy career was.

“We played a festival in Holland many years ago,” Smith responded, “and out in the crowd I saw two guys having a fight with their prosthetic legs. One had a shoe on, and the other one didn’t.”

Previous guests on Carpool Karaoke include Adele, Sir Elton John, Sia and Gwen Stefani (feat. George Clooney).
