From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson have taken part in Carpool Karaoke ahead of the release of new film Captain Marvel.
A teaser clip released ahead of the full episode sees the duo belt out a rendition of Ariana Grande single “7 Rings”.
Much like in their impromptu re-enactment of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s Oscars performance on The Jonathan Ross Show last weekend, this rendition saw Larson and Jackson gesticulating wildly as they performed the hit.
Later in the clip, they hook themselves up to a lie detector test and ask each other probing questions, like “Would you be honest with me if you didn’t like my performance in a scene?” and “Do you actually like my Kangol hats?” It turns out Larson does, even if the polygraph machine stated otherwise.
Larson makes her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in new superhero film Captain Marvel, which sees Jackson reprise his role of Nick Fury. The film – co-starring Jude Law, Gemma Chan and Annette Bening – is released on 8 March and will be the final Marvel film before Avengers: Endgame, released in April (which may or may not see this theory predicting a huge Hulk twist come true).
The full Carpool Karaoke segment – billed on Twitter as a “must-see” – airs tonight (8 March).
Captain Marvel is released in cinemas on 8 March.
