Caroline Flack’s boyfriend Lewis Burton has denied that his blood appears in a photograph of a blood-stained bed allegedly taken after the altercation that led to Flack’s December arrest.

Burton also denied that the former Love Island presenter hit him over the head with a lamp, while asking that people stop speculating about the circumstances behind her arrest.

Posting to his Instagram story alongside the photograph in question, Lewis exclaimed: “B******t this blood isn’t mine and I didn’t get hit over the head with a lamp, can everyone stop now.”

He added, “I love this girl more than anything, no one knows what’s going on or what’s happened. She is f***ing harmless and the most amazing person I have ever met.”

The authenticity of the photo, which was not released by the police, has not been verified. It shows a mattress covered in blood stains.

Flack was arrested and charged with assault by beating after police were called to her Islington, north London, home on 12 December. She pleaded not guilty to assault on 23 December, with a trial due to begin on 4 March.

The TV presenter is alleged to have hit Burton over the head with a lamp, causing injury. Burton does not support the prosecution and has defended Flack. He wrote in a statement that she had become the victim in a “witch hunt”.

Flack’s long-running role as presenter of Love Island came to an end following her arrest, with Laura Whitmore announced as the show’s new host for its forthcoming winter series.
