From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In the clip, the 26-year-old rapper appears alongside Late Late Show host James Corden, as the pair perform some of her greatest hits, including "Bodak Yellow" and her latest, "Money".
Corden also offers Cardi B a quick driving lesson, though with disastrous consequences, as she starts reversing into a trio of parking bollards. "I think I hit something," she cries.
The teaser also sees her deal out some advice to a group of young fans, after the car pulls up alongside a school.
Rolling down the window, she yells: "What's up children! Stay in school! Listen to your mom or you won't be getting no Christmas gifts."
Cardi B has had an eventful year that began with the launch of her debut album Invasion of Privacy.
Over the past 12 months she has given birth to her first child, Kulture, with ex-fiance Offset, broken off her engagement, launched into a feud with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj, and been nominated for album of the year at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
