Jihadis Next Door focuses on Islamic extremism in the UK and includes interviews with Abu Rumaysah, a man who has been named as the masked man from the video.
The documentary's director Jamie Roberts revealed to Radio Times he was "95% certain" the man from the video - who speaks with a British accent - was Rumaysah.
When Roberts last met with him, he was renting out bouncy castles for children's parties.
"The talk was hard, but he didn't strike me as being hard in any way. I certainly didn't feel menaced by him," Roberts said.
A spokesperson for the channel confirmed the earlier broadcast, saying: "Given the revelation that one of the men filmed for the documentary is widely believed to be the new British 'face' of Isis propaganda, it felt timely to broadcast it.
"The film provides a wider insight into how and why this individual and others like him became so radicalised."
The video sees a masked man issuing a statement directed at David Cameron before the execution of five captives.
Jihadis Next Door airs on Tuesday 19 January.
