From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The singer didn’t give it the gusto other guests have, but did give some pretty candid answers to his questions.
On her love life, Britney declared: “I think I might not ever go to men again, ever do the whole men thing again, ever get married.
“I mean, I may French kiss someone, but I’m not going to marry anyone. I don’t believe in marriage any more.”

The pair’s rendition of ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’ was probably the highlight song-wise, and when asked what it’s about, Britney confessed: I don’t know. I really don’t know. I think it’s just a song.”
Corden surprised her by doing the spoken word sample from Titanic in the song (you remember: ‘But I thought the old lady dropped it in the ocean? / Well baby, I went down and got it for you’), Britney cringing a little and putting her head in her hands.
Adele’s Carpool Karaoke is the most popular instalment to date, having amassed 123 million YouTube views.
