From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The tech-dystopian anthology series, coming from Charlie Brooker, will return to Netflix for a fifth season. A premiere date and episode count are yet to be revealed, though a short trailer featuring clips from previous episodes was released on the show's official Twitter account.
The trailer ends with the phrase "be right back", referencing the season 2 episode of the same naming starring Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson.
The episode features a young woman who discovers technology that can allow her to communicate with AI imitating her boyfriend, only recently killed in a car accident.
It's likely season 5 will take on the same shape as its previous Netflix outings, featuring six episodes released in the latter part of the year.
"We love making the show. It’s an utter privilege to be able to curate six films. It’s the stuff of dreams," executive producer Annabel Jones told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of season 4 launching.
