From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Now in its sixteenth series (had to Wikipedia), Big Brother is getting brutal with its housemates in a bid to keep ratings ticking over, with Channel 5 dropping hints that the next edition will involve sleep deprivation and the confusion of day and night.

The broadcaster dropped a teaser this morning for the overhauled series, presented by Emma Willis and Rylan Clark, which will be called Timebomb and involve "time-based disturbances".

"Days will turn into nights, time will stop, rewind and tasks will get turned on their heads," Willis is heard saying in the 30-second trailer.

Not being allowed to know whether it is day or night is something prisoners complained about being subjected to in Guantanamo Bay.

"Time may be a friend or an enemy and for some it may well run out…" a press release for the show said ominously.

Despite its potentially sanity-ruining premise, the newly revamped house will be "decorated in a sophisticated, sleek ‘Mad Men’ 60s style".

Big Brother: Timebomb has yet to be given an air date.
