Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Last night’s cohort had just 24 hours to settle into their new futuristic surroundings before their claustrophobic world was shaken up for the first time.
Viewers can expect trouble from 33-year-old Jale, whose strong opinions on immigration and ability to ‘tear someone apart’ with words suggest she may be in for some booing this series.
Then there’s ‘angelic school leaver’ Ashleigh, who dreams of becoming a model and hates lazy people, and saracastic actor Chris, who describes finding love in the house as his ‘worst nightmare’.
Ash from Manchester is used to spending his summers ‘working and getting wasted’ in Ibiza, while aforementioned Jack the Lad Marlon reckons he can ‘probably get in the knickers’ of any girl he likes. This year’s female contestants might just have something to say about that (almost certainly involving swear words).
Feisty Toya is one to watch out for – the 29-year-old once auctioned an ex-boyfriend’s possessions on eBay after he mistreated her, sent him the link to purchase his items back and gave the money to charity.
The new housemates join Catholic lingerie model Danielle, ‘playboy bunny with a law degree’ Kimberly and cheeky Essex boy Winston among an eclectic bunch of faces.
This year’s 'Power Trip' twist will see the wannabe celebrities compete for the chance to control events in the house and manipulate their rivals.
