From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Netflix users were enthralled by Black Mirror’s ‘choose your own adventure’ episode Bandersnatch over the festive period.

Considering how each decision made by the viewer – even one as simple as choosing between having Sugar Puffs and Frosties for breakfast – has a knock-on effect later in the story, it’s no surprise that writer Charlie Brooker performed mental gymnastics while mapping out the episode.

“It got like trying to do a rubik’s cube in your head,” Brooker says in an exclusive behind the scenes video debuted by The Independent. “I had to literally get up from my desk and walk around the house holding my head.”

The clip also sees executive producer Annabel Jones and actors Fionn Whitehead, Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry discuss making the episode. Watch above.

Speaking recently about season five of Black Mirror, Jones revealed that future episodes have been delayed due to the “enormous” amount of time spent spent developing Bandersnatch. Netflix has not confirmed an exact release date or episode count.
