At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Earlier this month, Hammer stepped down from his role opposite Jennifer Lopez in the forthcoming feature Shotgun Wedding after alleged direct messages surfaced purporting to have been sent by the Call Me By Your Name star.
Some of the messages, many of which appeared to contain graphic sexual fantasies and appeared to have been written by Hammer, mentioned cannibalism. The messages have not been verified.
In a statement, Hammer said: “I’m not responding to these bulls*** claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”

This week, reports emerged that Call Me by Your Name collaborators, director Luca Guadagnino and star Timothée Chalamet, are in talks to reunite for a film with a cannibalism theme.
Commenting on a post about the news of the project on the Just Jared Instagram page, Hammer’s ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers wrote: “No. Words.”
Chambers, a TV personality and entrepreneur, has not publicly addressed or alluded to the scandal until now.
The project – which Hammer does not appear to be involved in – is an adaptation of the Camille DeAngelis novel Bones and All.
It tells the story of a woman searching for her father in the hope of learning why she has a desire to murder and eat people.

Just Jared described as a “cannibal love story movie”, which apparently prompted the comment from Chambers.
Others commenting on the post questioned whether news of the project was a publicity stunt in light of the scandal surrounding Hammer.
Hammer and Chambers, who have two children aged four and six, split in July 2020 after 10 years of marriage.
