From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The ITV show's hosts flipped roles for a new special set to be broadcast a week before the next series begins.
These trials typically see contestants undertake a challenging, often fear-inducing, task involving creepy crawlies.
It has now been revealed that the pair have taken on three trials, one of which sees McPartlin attempt to eat a fish eye.
A video of this trial has been released, and it shows Donnelly watching on in shock as McPartlin puts the eye in his mouth.
“As you know, it's all about the pop,” stand-in host Joel Dommett tells the presenter, echoing words McPartlin usually tells the contestants sat in his place.
The presenters did the trials in Australia following the conclusion of the show's 2019 series.
“I feel this is payback,” McPartlin said, adding: “We’ve got away with it for so long that they’re just going to throw everything at us.”
I’m A Celebrity… A Jungle Story will be broadcast on Sunday (8 Novemer ) at 8.10pm on ITV.
It will announce the official line-up of this year's Wales-set series, which is set to begin on 15 November. Find a full list of all the rumoured contestants here.
