From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ryan Murphy is a busy man. Not only does he have three more seasons of American Horror Story in the works, but is also working on Scream Queens, Joan Crawford-Bette Davis drama Feud and two seasons of American Crime Story following The People v OJ Simpson's hefty awards haul.

While American Crime Story's second season, which will focus on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, won't air until 2018, a third centring on the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace is also in production. Going by reports, though, Murphy and producing partner Brad Falchuk also know the theme for a season beyond that - specifically the Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton sex scandal.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy has optioned Jeffery Toobin's book, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal that Nearly Brought Down a President, and is already meeting with actors to play Lewinsky and Linda Tripp, the former's colleague who famously recorded her conversations detailing her affair with the then-President.

The People vs OJ Simpson starred Cuba Gooding, Jr, Sarah Paulson and Courtney B Vance, the latter two winning Emmys for their roles; the series took home eight further trophies including Best Limited Series

Last week, Murphy shot down rumours that regular collaborator Lady Gaga would play Donatella Versace in American Crime Story's third season.
