From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Gus Fring's meth front chicken shop Los Pollos Hermanos could soon become a real restaurant, with Sony in discussions with a businessman looking to open an homage to Breaking Bad.

During a Reddit AMA, Vince Gilligan was asked if he'd ever thought of opening a Los Pollos Hermanos:

"Believe it or not... there is talk of a Pollos Hermanos becoming a real restaurant. This is not an idea that I generated personally. But it's one that's been presented to me, through the good folks at Sony, and the idea came to them from a businessman who has an interest in doing just that.

Speaking for myself, I'd love to see that happen!"

A 'real life Los Pollos Hermanos' does already exist sort-of, with the Twisters restaurant that was used to film LPH scenes in Breaking Bad still in business (I went out to Albuquerque for breakfast in Walt's booth a couple of years ago). It even retained the LPH logo from filming on one of its interior walls.

There's no word yet on whether it would be this property that would become the full-time Los Pollos Hermanos (though that's perhaps unlikely as it's in the middle of nowhere) or whether one would be set up elsewhere in the US.
