Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The main highlights of the 2010 edition are the Digital Emmy Awards and keynote addresses by entertainment heavyweights.
The event organizers, REED MIDEM, announced on March 30 that representatives from Singapore, the "Country of Focus" for the 2010 edition, will share views on its state-of-the-art 3D technology with professionals from 100 countries, on April 14, in a day dedicated to the "Asian dragon."
This international market for financing, co-producing, buying and selling entertainment across all platforms attracted 11,500 leading professionals to Cannes in April 2009 and 12,000 last October in MIPCOM, a comparable event organized by the same team in Cannes. This year's event takes place in a more optimistic economic climate than last year's edition, which saw a decrease in the number of content buyers going to the South of France resort town.
The expected highlights for the 2010 edition comprise the International Digital Emmy Award ceremony, on April 12, hosted by Jason Priestley (from the hit series Beverly Hills 90210) durnig which Tim Kring, creator and executive producer of Heroes will receive the 2010 Pioneer Prize for his contribution to the field of cross-platform entertainment for Heroes Evolutions.
The Heroes creator will also give a keynote address, as will News Corp.'s Jonathan Miller on digital strategies as well as Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, founder and CEO of British TV Shine Group, among other media masterminds during the five-day event.
