From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We’re nearly a month into Love Island 2021, and this year’s contestants are settling in for an explosive summer of fun (and maybe even love!)

Here at The Independent, we’re joining in on the excitement with our new interview series allowing you to ask your juicy questioned to former stars of the ITV2 dating show.

So far, we’ve spoken to the lovely Jack Fincham and Shaughna Phillips, and this week had the pleasure of speaking to series four’s Georgia Steel about her time on the show.

When it comes to Love Island catchphrases, there are few more iconic than “I’m loyal, babes”, coined by Georgia in 2018. We chatted with her about what it’s like to join the villa as a “bombshell”, Casa Amor and whether people still shout her slogan at her in the street.

The Independent’s interviews with former Love Island stars will continue throughout the current series, which airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2.
