From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

They’re less than a week into the show, but the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! campmates have already been reunited with their luxury items.

During Thursday night’s (19 November) show, the contestants were treated to their pre-chosen special items guaranteed to make their time at Gwyrch Castle that bit easier.

Watching the other campmates receive their items proved to be an emotional experience, with Mo Farah opting for a poster drawn by his children which read: “When you meet Ant and Dec, tell them my favourite is Ant.”

Opting for more family-related items, Shane Richie chose his daughter’s shower gel, which he said “smelled like home”.

Victoria Derbyshire received a photo of her children and husband, which made her cry, as did Jessica Plummer’s item of mug with her a photo of her daughter on it.

Also with sentimental value, Vernon Kay chose a cashmere blanket from his sofa at home which he uses when his family watches TV together. Hollie Arnold chose her 10-year-old dressing gown and Russell Watson had a pillow that he taken on his travels around the world.

Many others opted for grooming items, with Beverley Callard getting a hairbrush, AJ Pritchard choosing product for his curly hair and Ruthie Henshall opting for mascara.

The more random items came from Jordan North and Giovanna Fletcher, with Radio 1 DJ North opting for a Burnley FC scarf. It’s not the first time North has shouted out the football club, as he repeated “Happy place, happy place, Turf Moor” during the first Bushtucker trial – a reference to the team’s stadium.

Fletcher, however, chose a copy of “Reach” by S Club 7, with the camp having a group dance to the track. They are allowed to listen to it two more times.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs tonight at 9pm on ITV.
