From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is back, and with it comes at least a few faces you may not recognise. This year, that includes the four-time Paralympics champion Hollie Arnold, who is hoping to transfer her athletic skills to the jungle.

Arnold, 26, has an impressive resume. As well as her Paralympics success, where she competes in the javelin, she has also won gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and the IPC Athletics World Championships.

To top it all off, she was also awarded an MBE in 2017 for services to field athletics.

Arnold was born without her left forearm, and discovered her javelin talent while participating in an athletics course as a child. Soon after she participated in her first ever Paralympics and, at 13, she was among the youngest field athletes to ever compete in the games.

In her introductory video for the new series of I’m a Celebrity, Arnold joked that her friends and family are “absolutely fuming” that she had to keep her involvement in the series a secret.

“I never, ever could have passed this up,” Arnold said. “There’s a lot of excitement but a lot of nerves as well.”

She’s being supported on the show by her boyfriend Josh Morgan, who is also an athlete and coaches the Welsh national table tennis team.

Arnold also said that she is excited to get “stuck into” the trials and challenges on the show, and that she will not be held back by her disability.

“My disability will not affect me,” she said. “It might be slightly harder to do something, or take me a bit more time, but I’m definitely not going to be exempt from anything. Having one arm is not going to stop me at all.”

Due to coronavirus travel restrictions, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is being filmed for the first time outside of the Australian jungle. Instead production has been moved to a castle in Wales.
