From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Donnelly performed the impression on Wednesday night’s episode (18 November), and on the heels of contestant Shane Richie attempting to teach journalist and presenter Victoria Derbyshire how to successfully tell a joke.
“I can’t wait to see Victoria’s next hard-hitting political interview,” imagined Ant McPartlin. “'Prime minister, the public has a right to know: what’s green and wobbly and flies through the sky?'”
“Is it a jelly-copter?”, Donnelly replied while imitating Johnson with a “posh” accent and shaky demeanor.
“Evening, prime minister!” Donnelly added. “He’s definitely watching!”

“Yeah, he’s self-isolating!” responded McPartlin.
Johnson confirmed earlier this week (15 November) that he is self-isolating after coming in contact with an MP who tested positive for coronavirus.
Earlier in the episode, Derbyshire confessed that she was terrified by the thought of making people laugh for a living, and recited her favourite joke.

It involved Derbyshire going to her doctor with concerns about I’m a Celebrity, particularly that it is “sponsored by a supermarket”, as she is terrified of supermarkets. “How long have you felt like that?” the doctor asks. Derbyshire responds: “Ever since I was Lidl.”
Derbyshire’s first go at making camper Mo Farrah laugh spectacularly backfired, but a second attempt in front of the entire cast of campers proved more effective.
“And the Bafta goes to…!” joked Beverley Callard in the wake of Derbyshire’s joke, having been impressed by the presenter’s poker face while telling it.
Viewers tweeted their enjoyment of Donnelly’s PM impression, with one person declaring that it was “outstanding”.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs nightly at 9pm on ITV.
