Game of Thrones’s seventh season ended with a twist, as Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) gave into their urges while travelling on a boat to Winterfell.

Unbeknownst to the star-crossed lovers, the pair are actually related: Jon happens to be the secret bastard son of Daenerys’s brother, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen.

However, Bran Stark knows the truth, and looks set to reveal all when the pair finally reach the Stark hometown.

Teasing the scene while speaking to TV Line, co-showrunner DB Weiss said: “From a dramatic standpoint, it makes things interesting, because the story is no longer about who Jon’s parents are. It’s about what happens when Jon finds out.”

Harrington also spoke to the publication, and, while not letting too much information slip, hinted at a very awkward announcement: “Jon is someone who plays by the book. He cannot lie. Finding out about Dany would be very hard for him.”

Clarke, too, spoke about her character’s feelings for Jon, saying: “She truly loves Jon. Were she to find out about his title, it would cut deep.”

Game of Thrones returns to television screens this April. Read everything we know about the series here.
