Meyers, a Saturday Night Live alum, invited Jones, one of the stars of the current SNL cast, to record a reaction video for his own show, Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Both comedians sat down with beer and snacks to watch the episode and share their comments in real time.
At the beginning of the clip, Meyers is pleased to see that the show has got a new opening sequence, telling Jones: “I appreciate this because, let’s be honest, they didn’t have to change the opening credits. We would have watched it anyway.”
Jones muses that she “never thought she’d be this nerdy”, since prior Game of Thrones, her nerdiest pop culture interest was Happy Gilmore.
Both shriek when Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) appear on the screen, after which Jones gives Meyers her best “Arya face”.
The camera later switches to Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). “That is your nephew!” Jones screams to Daenerys. “That is your auntie!” she adds, addressing Jon.
Jones then tries to explain to Meyers how exactly the two characters are related, but her comments get somewhat confusing.
Towards the end of the clip, Meyers asks her: “What are you going to do when it’s over? When Game of Thrones leaves, what are you going to do?”
“I’m going to make my own Game of Thrones,” says Jones.
“You are? What kind of character would you play?” asks Meyers.
“I’m going to play all of them,” Jones replies.
Game of Thrones is available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK, and on HBO in the US.
