Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Fox Wars

10.35pm, BBC1

There are, we are told (who counted them?), 33,000 foxes roaming Britain's suburbia – their human neighbours categorised here as "huggers", "haters" or "shooters". Vixen-feeding Londoner Nobby is of the hugging persuasion, while the only thing that Janet from Newport wants to hug a fox with is "20,000 volts of electricity".

Live Uefa Champions League

7.30pm, ITV

Arsenal host Borussia Dortmund – last year’s runners-up – at the Emirates, the toughest test of the Gunners' European mettle so far this season. The German outfit have been in fine form domestically

The Great British Bake Off – The Final

8pm, BBC2

An all-female climax to the contest sees Ruby, the youngest finalist, take on "consistent and steady" Kimberley and "quirky, creative" Frances in rounds that involve a savoury picnic pie, pretzels and a wedding cake. Not that Ruby thinks much of weddings: "an exercise in narcissism... I can't be bothered."

The Art Of Australia

9pm and 3am, BBC4

Edmund Capon ends his series with the emergence and supremacy of Aboriginal art – "an artistic tradition that, while incredibly ancient, to Western eyes looked utterly abstract and therefore stunningly modern".

Later – With Jools Holland

10pm, BBC2

Paul McCartney won't, thankfully, be giving us "Lady Madonna" or "Let It Be", as he showcases his first new material in six years.
