Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Walt Disney Company's Disney Junior Channel is in search of a "visionary" UK educator to join its new council of academic advisors.
The council was formed in the United States in March, to help Disney Junior develop a televisual curriculum for children aged between two and seven and the 10-strong advisory board already counts among its members three Harvard professors: one from the Ivy League university's medical school, one from its Graduate School of Education, as well as the chair of its Folklore and Mythology programme.
The US channel, which launched in the UK last year, boasts such popular titles as Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Jungle Junction and Tales of Friendship with Winnie the Pooh.
The academics' job is to keep the company abreast of teaching trends and to "offer insight into the historical role of storytelling and the use of digital advancements as learning tools".
They won't, however, be expected to pass judgement on individual storylines from The Happy Hugglemonsters.
