Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Television

Highlights of the week for me are 'Harry Hill's TV Burp' and 'Match of the Day'. Though I did enjoy Paxman's 'The Victorians'.

Visual Arts

I recently acquired a large print of Johnny Rotten by Jorgen Angel. It's live on stage, yet Johnny looks as beautiful as the Messiah. Even his skin looks like an ad for Clearasil.

Film

I'm a Laurel and Hardy fan, and I recently got the box set on DVD. They are phenomenally funny. The architecture for almost every joke made today can be seen in these films.

Books

I'm currently reading a beautifully bound copy of 'A Narrative of the Voyage of HMS Beagle'. It's a fantastic book. It's the letters and diaries of Robert Fitzroy, Charles Darwin and others on the Beagle, edited together to make one travelogue.

Music

I'm very keen on The Holy Modal Rounders. They were a psychedelic folk duo in the Sixties who sing American folk songs in an aggressively demented fashion. A lot of the lyrics are probably written on acid, but I can't stop listening to it. It's mesmerising.

Adrian Edmondson and his band The Bad Shepherds will be appearing on Saturday's Big Top line-up at the Wychwood Festival 2009 For tickets please visit www.wychwoodfestival.com
