From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Theatrical dream duo and X-Men co-stars Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will tour their revival of Harold Pinter's No Man's Land; hitting Sheffield, Newcastle, Brighton, Cardiff, and followed by a 14-week London run at Wyndham's Theatre.

Stewart recalled to the Guardian his 1975 visit to the Wyndham to see the original production of No Man's Land, led by Ralph Richardson and John Gielgud, returning twice to see it again in the same week. He adds he "would have seen it more if I could have afforded the tickets. I made a promise to myself that one day I would play Spooner or Hirst, but to be doing it back at Wyndham’s with Ian McKellen was a fantasy I never entertained."

Both had previously led the 2009 London production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot; which later travelled to Melbourne and Cape Town, and was revived in 2013 for a double bill production with No Man's Land. McKellen will return to the role of the failed poet Spooner, while Stewart will play the alcoholic, aristocratic self-labelled artiste Hirst. The production will be directed by Sean Mathias.

"Playing Spooner to Patrick’s Hirst on Broadway was a constant joy, which is why I am delighted to be back with him in the West End," McKellen added.

Tickets will be offered at multiplex prices, with over 100 seats per performance being offered for between £10 and £20. The tour will open at Sheffield's Lyceum Theatre on 3 August; before playing at Newcastle's Theatre Royal from 15 August; Brighton's Theatre Royal from 22 August; and Cardiff's New Theatre from 29 August.

The tour will end with a 14-week engagement at Wyndham's Theatre, London, from 8 September.
